I think I need something even more remedial. I’m puzzled by several items including a few of them :
In I Can’t Give You Anything: I think the G7 is not in G , and because it is part of C, and C is not C#4. then C , and thus G become blue, a second key.
Similarly, A7 is not in C or G and so it is a “sub-dominant”- black.
I get the Dm7 as mostly blue C, and the E7 is not G or C so becomes a subdominant.
    ..so far,,so good I think .
    Next tune, All of Me:
The first bar, C is all capped in black, yet all the notes are in C…why is this? Then the A7 is part of a new key, Dm…but then, why does the G in the Dm have a neutral sign? and why isn’t it written as a Dm7 and just part of C, so that the A7 is actually a subdominant?
That’s all for now, but it’s still pretty blurry for me. I realize, in the end it will help me edit my choices of chords I need to worry about. Someone just shoved Stella by Starlight on my plate….this looks unnecessarily like chord stew. So I’ll be using this tool right away.
