    Yes, E7 is the dom of A of course. Em7 is in a different key, namely the II in D major. So the two have nothing to do with each other. E7 is the same a G# (half) dim.

    Three months later I got even more. It’s so helpful! Thanks again. One thing that I don’t think the second video mentions is that the E7 would be the dominant for a A, correct? Would this also work for E-7 as a ii chord? I haven’t thought this through. But, going back to the E7 as being the dominant of A, I’m supposing that’s why you are naming them G# diminished and C#7 instead of Ab dim and Db7. Lots of new material to ponder as I swim laps!
